Most people have multiple ToDo apps, multiple online calendars and other scheduling-related tools. Are you letting them run you OR are you running them? Especially when it comes to your workouts and fitness goals?
It may not sound like a big deal but here’s a question to consider:
Do you currently put your workouts into your weekly calendar ahead of time? Like you do with your dental and doctor appointments?
Your regular workouts are as much a part of your health maintenance plan as a twice-yearly dental cleaning or a physical exam. And if you’re not treating them in the same way, now would be a good time to start.
You can start off simply by putting in at least 3 workouts for the week at a specific time BEFORE your actual work week (and the rest of life) takes over. It could be time at the gym, time at home with your workout DVD, a 15 to 30 minute walk break during middle of workday, etc. Any or all of those.
As you start to make your priorities real by putting them into the calendar ahead of time, that makes it become more real. It sends that energy out there that who you are and what you do matters. A lot of people will make the excuse they tried to get some workouts in during the week but “other things came up”.
Guess what? That happens with pretty much everyone else, too. If you don’t treat those regular bits of fitness as a priority in your life & schedule, you cannot expect others to do it for you.
So, start to start … put at least a few workouts into your calendar for this week OR next week after you read this blog post. Start to reclaim your life by actually acting like your priorities are truly a priority to you.
