letting go, regular recreation

letting go, regular recreation

For 2014, I’m describing the things I’m putting into place for my next level of growth as Commitments – not resolutions, not goals and not intentions. That word resonates more with me. It’s about a declaration, followed by real action steps and a plan.

Letting Go – Regular Recreation

This post may have some people scratching their heads. And others nodding their heads …

But it’s honestly an area of struggle for me. I’m still working past the (false) belief that I’m only enough IF I do enough. That has historically been a tendency to take on more than is reasonable, postpone relaxation & celebration and other ways of all-or-nothing mindset.

When I had left my last corporate/desk job, I still had over 320 hours of accrued vacation or something like that. It was not the first time I’d been maxed out on vacation at a job.

It’s not healthy long-term and I’ve known that for a while. I’m really making a difference with that this year by regularly questioning my habits AND putting in new ones that allows me to responsibly just unplug and let go.

This morning, I put in both work conferences AND some vacation slots as a start for my calendar! And I’ll continue to do that – making those regular bits of vacation and letting go a consistent thing. I’m not just talking about “the thing.”

What are you committed to putting in place for yourself in 2014 to reclaim your life?
