cultivating authenticity

cultivating authenticity

For 2014, I’m describing the things I’m putting into place for my next level of growth as Commitments – not resolutions, not goals and not intentions. That word resonates more with me. It’s about a declaration, followed by real action steps and a plan.

Be More Vulnerable – Cultivate More Authenticity

I learned more about René Brown’s work towards the end of last year and the timing was very appropriate. I’m nearly done reading two of her most recent books and it’s really opened my eyes to how I’d been viewing both vulnerability & authenticity.

I still have quite a few misguided beliefs that being vulnerable, asking for help, etc. are NOT virtues. They had been ingrained for me as signs of weakness and failure. I intellectually know that no longer to be true but deep neural belief “grooves” do not get created overnight which means they do not go away overnight.

This is why these particular beliefs get a Front & Center workout “commitment” for 2014. It’s time.

Are there ways in your life right now where you could be more vulnerable with the people that deserve to see that from you? To live even more authentically?

What are you committed to putting in place for yourself in 2014 to reclaim your life?
